The title of my blog post sort of goes against everything you knew about the customer being king and you are right.
The correct title however reads “NEVER ignore the customer”.
A research on the top 20 reasons startups fail, based on analysis of 32 startup failure postmortems revealed that ignoring customers ranked highest on why startup failed. Be it before or after launch of your startup, never ignore the customer.
By default we tend to see customers only as people who are payers of our product or services and yet ignore the fact that when an idea is conceived, the customer segment to a large extent would determine if the business would even have life. Feedback from customers is part of your product or service.
