SCHOOLS DOESN’T PREPARE YOU FOR THE “WORLD”

The kind of educational system that we run particularly in Nigeria has little or next to nothing to offer society after graduating from University, Colleges of Education or Polytechnics. These institutions churn out millions of “graduating” students each year into a market that isn’t static. Things are changing rapidly but the one system that is key to preparing these ones for the real world in itself resist change.
These graduates in spite of their lack of knowledge of what is required in an actual work space require huge pay check for having a certificate as against offering value. The system has been designed to accept square pegs in round holes. An abnormal that has become the new normal in this part of the world. This way, they find it difficult to fit in or catch up when they leave this part of the world to other fast moving countries and seem only able to fit into a world that no longer exist.
To blame the system while they remain the same would also NOT be right, mode of information and knowledge acquisition has changed tremendously.
